In every episode I ask my guest, “what do you do when your power is shaken?” It was time for me to turn the mic on myself, and reflect on this very question.
There are a handful of things I do, but one of my favorite and most helpful is what I call the Girlfriend Method.
Ever ask a woman to tell you about her best friend? HOLD THE FUCKING PHONE! She will lay it out - how smart, amazing, beautiful, talented, amazing she is! You ask that same woman what she loves about her self. You’ll see her turn bashful, questioning, less confident.
My power has been a bit shaken this week, especially as we round out 2020 and I think about what I want to announce and who I want to be in the new year. I had to give myself a dose of the Girlfriend Method, and also realize arbitrary timelines are just that - arbitrary.
I am continuing to learn the lesson of patience and acceptance that life will happen on its own timeline. I’m merely along for the ride.
And, BTW, it’s really, really fucking hard.
